Priorities.
For too many South Dade residents, everything in their life has gone up in price except their wages. Rents and home prices have skyrocketed, cost of transportation and tolls are higher, insurance rates continue to rise and taxes aren’t getting any lower. But wages for many have stayed the same. Families are stretched thin, and our community needs help.
That’s why Danielle is committed to fighting for policies that promote affordability, and will be a champion for smart development that puts people before profits.
South Dade is ground zero for Miami-Dade’s transportation crisis. Endless construction has turned US-1 and the Turnpike into rush hour parking lots, and smartphone apps like Waze have turned quiet residential streets into thoroughfares for drivers in need of a short cut. This isn’t simply an inconvenience; it threatens the safety of our children and hurts our local economy.
Danielle will continue the fight for meaningful transit solutions by bringing forward all solutions that help ease traffic and connect South Dade to the long-promised rail corridor.
In 2013, our county leaders commissioned a plan called “Green Print,” with the goal of becoming proactive in Miami-Dade about sustainability and protecting our environment. Unfortunately, this plan went nowhere. Meanwhile, the cost of environmental neglect keeps going up: rising sea levels threaten our property values, pollution is threatening the quality of our drinking water, and increased development is reducing the last slivers of green space in the County.
As County Commissioner, Danielle will shift the focus back on sustainability and will work with county leaders to address these problems before they become even worse.
